So I'm not such a big fan of Maroon 5 but decided to watch them LIVE! I think it's safe to say that I like them better now :) Honest. Having a real life connection with someone changes your perception of them HEHE
Before going, I had to turn their songs on shuffle over and over so I could remember their lyrics and not just stand there at the concert like some lame-o fake fan AHAHA (but to no avail) lol
Disclaimer : these pictures were ALL taken by my friend EeJane. Credits to her. It was fairly difficult for me to take my camera out of my bag especially since mine was a shoulder handbag and there was hardly any space for hand movement.
Enjoy!
The opening act was by Sara Bareilles! The woman who sang "i'm not gonna write you a love songgggg" y'know that lady! lol i didn't know it was her. In fact, i didn't know any other song she sang besides that song :p nonetheless i was really quite impressed by her. she has PIPES y'all and she sings really in tune. I guess lay people who don't buy her album don't really realise this but her voice is pretty awesome. and she is quite vulgar on stage lol
she also sang a version of coldplay's "the scientist". wasn't as good as the original but it really showcased her quivery abilities, lol is this the correct word? y'know those quivery stuff singers always do. awesome. her other songs were just alright but her voice is just amazing.
ADAM LEVINE FROM MAROON 5! Not surprisingly, majority of the audience were girls ahahaha. he's hot! :) he started off with "Misery".
his voice is ALSO excellent live. NO SIGN of pitchiness except maybe once but you probably wouldn't be able to tell if you've never conducted a band with 10 musical instruments before lol yerseh
this is his favourite hand motion. he does it all the time! a habit really!
and again! i think this was when he sang "never gonna leave this bed". that song is just beautiful. go download it! it's nice! his face gets scrunchy when he sings with his heart LOL and i find it amazing.
in most of their music videos, adam levine has this image of the playboy type who likes to fuck around lol, but the amazing thing about seeing him perform live is the fact that his expressions on stage are clearly deeper and more substantial than that of a fucker LOL
then he unbuttoned his shirt OOLALA thought he was gonna take off his shirt for a moment there but he didn't remove his white tee AHAHAHA probably some contract he signed beforehand ensuring compliance to clauses of prevention of nudity lol
i would actually define him as "soulful" which is clearly very different than the genre of music they portray through the media. he did a cover of alicia key's "if i ain't got you" and it was almost as good as the original :) i guess i like it because he has the falsetto swagger going on for him and it is to die for :)
turnup was awesome. we had to wait outside for roughly 3 hours and an hour inside after sara bareilles's performance.
see the drummer back there? he's got lots of charisma. at the start, he had this cute nice fluffy hairdo but halfway through the concert his hair got all stringy with sweat beading down his temples, eww but awesome, in a way lol
adam levine introducing the band members :)
*drools* awesome pawsome close-up of adam levine! although he is undeniably hot, there was just an element of normality about him that sort of made me realise that singer stars are just like us after all.
i know this is kind of a "duh" realisation that everyone probably already knows but it's different seeing them live, it's that feeling / notion you get watching them that makes you relate to them in such a way that you just know they aren't "out there". they are here, probably just struggling to make it big like you and i.
indeed sara barreiles too wrote a song entitled "let the rain" which was about the difficulties she went through as an artist, being "scared shitless". that was the exact phrase :)
awesome picture for LAST! bringing sexy back, yeah. :)
group picture!
and guess who got lucky! my boyfriend got lucky!!! ahahah! adam levine threw his guitar pick after the final song (sunday morning) (which happens to be baby's favourite song of them), and the guitar pick landed somewhere amongst us. The bunch of people behind us were more gungho in looking for the pick, they crawled under and stuff so i didn't bother to check. but matt bent down, shone his phone light on the floor, and i shifted my foot and there it was, under my foot :)
Am i a clover leaf or what! :)
it appears it fell through the creaks of justyn's fingers, hit ying, and fell right by my feet which then got covered by my boots when i shifted my foot :)
anyway baby was the person who bent down and saw the "M" glow in the dark sign under my foot. The "M" is on the other side of the pick. the picture above shows the autographed side :)
I am so happy for matt because he plays the guitar so it's really appropriate! :)
Overall, the performance was quite awesome and satisfactory. To be honest the main reason i went was because i felt like it was such a waste to not have gone to ANY concert at all since i've been in the UK when there are SOOO many artists coming down to manchester.
Nonetheless, what i got from the concert was much more than i expected.
Awesome experience, and definitely one for you maroon 5 fans out there! definitely catch them live if you have the chance because they are not to be missed!
especially adam levine's falsetto ;)
and hot bod ;)
edit: They will be performing live in KL and apparently you will get 30% off your ticket if you purchase any HTC phone from maxis! good deal if you're a die hard fan and if you're a die hard HTC fan HEHE
